TheStar.com - Zoo elephants mourn matriarch

"Patsy died Monday night at the age of 40 — considered to be a normal life span for an elephant — surrounded by the zookeepers who cared for her. But she was also mourned by the zoo's six remaining elephants, who took part in their own grieving process, said Toronto Zoo CEO Calvin White.
'They came over and touched her with their trunks. They were mourning for her,' he said."
